SLAB INSTALLATION
Professional installation guidelines for EuroStone quartz slab countertops
Professional Installation Required
EuroStone quartz slab installation must be performed by qualified professionals with experience in engineered stone fabrication and installation. Improper installation can void the warranty and result in damage to the material or property.
These guidelines are provided for professional fabricators and installers only. Always follow OSHA safety regulations and manufacturer recommendations.
PRE-INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Site Inspection & Preparation
- •Verify cabinet installation is complete, level, and properly secured
- •Ensure base cabinets can support minimum 150 lbs per square foot
- •Check for level (± 1/8" over 10 feet)
- •Confirm all plumbing and electrical rough-ins are complete
- •Remove all appliances and sinks from installation area
- •Protect floors, cabinets, and adjacent surfaces
Material Inspection
- •Inspect all slabs for damage, chips, or cracks before fabrication
- •Verify color and pattern match customer's selection
- •Check dimensions against template measurements
- •Report any discrepancies to customer before proceeding
Acclimation
Allow slabs to acclimate to installation environment for at least 24 hours before installation. Store slabs in upright position on padded supports away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

INSTALLATION PROCESS
Template Creation
Create precise templates using digital laser templating or manual methods. Account for appliances, sinks, faucets, and any custom cutouts. Verify all measurements before fabrication.
Fabrication
Cut slabs to template specifications using wet cutting methods. Allow a minimum of 12″ between a cutout and a joint. If less the joint needs to be supported. Drill the inside corners and cut to the corner not damaging the radius corner. Do not cross cut. Shape edge profiles, create sink cutouts, and drill faucet holes. Polish all exposed edges and surfaces. Always use proper dust control and respiratory protection. Quartz can only be wet polished. This will minimize the production of silica dust which can cause Silicosis or cause cancer.
Wearing masks approved by OSHA during fabrication is an absolute must. Proper ventilation is required to minimize hazards of dust. The workplace should be well ventilated to ensure no employee is exposed to more than 25ug/m3 in 8 hours (permissible exposure).
Dry Fit
Transport fabricated pieces to job site and perform dry fit. Check for proper fit, level, and alignment. Mark seam locations and verify overhang support. Make any necessary adjustments before final installation.
Substrate Preparation
Install 1/2" to 3/4" plywood substrate over cabinets to provide solid, level support. Ensure substrate is properly secured and level. Add reinforcement brackets for overhangs exceeding 6" (2cm).
Seam Preparation
For installations requiring seams, ensure edges are perfectly straight and smooth. Apply color-matched epoxy resin according to manufacturer specifications. Use seam setters to align pieces flush and level.
Adhesive Application
Apply 100% silicone adhesive in continuous beads approximately 3-4" apart across substrate. Use enough adhesive to prevent voids but avoid excess that could prevent proper seating.
Countertop Placement
Carefully place countertop sections on prepared substrate. Use suction cups or multiple installers to control placement. Press firmly to ensure good adhesive contact. Check for level and adjust with shims if necessary.
Seam Joining
For multi-piece installations, activate seam setters to pull pieces together tightly. Ensure seam is flush and level. Clean excess epoxy immediately. Allow epoxy to cure per manufacturer recommendations before removing setters.
Sink & Faucet Installation
Install undermount sinks using sink clips and silicone adhesive. Ensure proper support and sealing. Install faucets and plumbing fixtures. Test all connections for leaks.
Final Inspection & Cleanup
Clean all surfaces with approved quartz cleaner. Remove any adhesive residue, fingerprints, or debris. Inspect seams, edges, and cutouts. Apply final polish if needed. Protect countertop until customer acceptance.
BEST PRACTICES & TIPS
✓ DO
- • Use wet cutting methods exclusively
- • Support overhangs with brackets or corbels
- • Allow adhesive and epoxy to cure fully
- • Maintain consistent seam width (1-2mm)
- • Clean all surfaces before adhesive application
- • Use color-matched epoxy for visible seams
- • Protect countertops during other trades' work
- • Provide care and maintenance instructions
✗ DON'T
- • Never dry cut or use inadequate dust control
- • Don't install over uneven or unlevel cabinets
- • Never use construction adhesive instead of silicone
- • Don't force pieces together at seams
- • Never install without proper substrate
- • Don't exceed recommended overhang limits
- • Never apply excessive heat during fabrication
- • Don't rush epoxy cure times
OVERHANG SUPPORT REQUIREMENTS
2CM THICKNESS
- • Up to 6" overhang: No additional support required (with proper substrate)
- • 6" to 10" overhang: Requires corbels or steel brackets spaced 24" apart
- • 10" to 14" overhang: Requires corbels or brackets spaced 18" apart
- • Over 14" overhang: Consult engineer for structural support design
3CM THICKNESS
- • Up to 10" overhang: No additional support required (with proper substrate)
- • 10" to 14" overhang: Requires corbels or steel brackets spaced 24" apart
- • 14" to 18" overhang: Requires corbels or brackets spaced 18" apart
- • Over 18" overhang: Consult engineer for structural support design
Important: Support requirements may vary based on countertop configuration, sink cutouts, and local building codes. Always consult structural engineer for complex installations or unusual layouts.
WARRANTY CONSIDERATIONS
Proper installation is critical to warranty validity. The following installation errors will void the warranty:
- •Installation over unlevel or inadequately supported cabinets
- •Insufficient support for overhangs
- •Use of incompatible adhesives or sealants
- •Improper seam joining techniques
- •Installation without proper substrate
- •Damage caused during fabrication or installation
Refer to EuroStone's residential and commercial warranty documents for complete terms and conditions.
